Gan Shan (Gan Shan, originally Zhao Mingjiang, stage name Jin Shan)

Biography

Gan Shan (1945 -), originally Zhao Mingjiang, previously known by the stage name Jin Shan, born in Hong Kong, is a veteran Hong Kong film and television actor. He began his career working at Golden Harvest, then joined CTV (Commercial Television). After CTV closed down, he transitioned to RTV (later ATV). In his early career, Gan Shan mostly played villainous roles; with a martial arts background, he was active in period wushu dramas and was capable of playing middle-aged and elderly roles. Notably, Gan Shan had a strong connection to works about "Fist of Fury," participating in both the film and television versions of the Fist of Fury series and the TV series "The Legendary Hero Huo Yuanjia." As the 1990s progressed and he aged, Gan Shan's roles shifted mainly to elder-type characters, and he became a common supporting actor active in television series during that period. Due to age-related issues, he retired in the 2000s, appearing less frequently in series, and currently resides in Fu Lai Estate, Tsuen Wan.
