Mickey Chu Kin Kwan was born on April 25, 1974, in Hong Kong, and grew up in Tuen Mun. The youngest child in his family, he completed Secondary Five at Buddhist Sum Lam Memorial Secondary School. After graduation, he entered the First Polygram KaraOK Model Contest on a whim and won third place, earning recognition from Polygram Records executives. He then spent a year studying singing under Dai Si Chung. Encouraged by a production company, he auditioned for TVB drama "Young Five Tigers" and landed the role of "Tam Kui Lun" due to his resemblance to a young Alan Tam, gaining attention as a newcomer. In 1994, he won the Best Newcomer award at the 4th Next TV Awards. During the mid-1990s, his television career progressed slowly with minor roles. He terminated his TVB contract around 1999–2001, worked on Malaysian-produced videos, and studied acting before leaving TVB officially in 2004. In 2007, he joined ATV as a contracted artist but ended his contract in 2008 and gradually stepped away from the entertainment industry. In 2011, introduced by Wallace Chung, he co-starred in "One Touch" and subsequently based himself in mainland China, occasionally returning to Hong Kong for film and TV cameos. In 2019, he returned to TVB for a guest role in "Sinister" at producer Chan Chi-kong's invitation. He maintains a low-profile lifestyle and is close friends with Wallace Chung and Nicky Wu.
