In 1985, he graduated from the psychology department of York University in Canada, then went to Hong Kong to begin his acting career. His first official film was the 1986 movie "Detective Chocolate" with actor Sam Hui, and he went on to play leading and supporting roles in several Hong Kong films. His best-known works include the 1992 TVB series "He Comes from Heaven," "Fight Back to School 2," and a series of San Miguel beer advertisements. He returned to on-screen acting in 2017 to shoot advertisements and films.
