Mars Cheung Wing-Fat

Biography

Mars Cheung Wing-Fat, also known by his stage name Mars, is a renowned Hong Kong actor and action director. Born in Shanghai in 1954, he migrated to Hong Kong with his mother as a child and was sent to a Peking opera boarding school due to his mother's need to work. He studied under Tang Di and was a junior fellow of Ching Siu-tang. He earned the nickname "Mars" after a car accident left two scars on his head. He began his career in Thailand as a stunt double before becoming an official actor. His debut was in 1966 with a minor role in 金鼎游龍, and he joined a stunt team in 1979. He became a key collaborator with Jackie Chan starting with 師弟出馬 in 1980 and played significant roles in both Police Story films. A severe injury during filming, combined with the disbanding of Jackie Chan's stunt team, led to his eventual split with Chan. He currently works as an action and special effects director for TVB.
