Deon Cheung Chung Chi
Biography
Deon Cheung Chung Chi was born on April 2, 1967 in Hong Kong and grew up in a working-class family with seven siblings, being the fourth child. He lived in the Lam Tin Estate during his childhood before its reconstruction, and his father worked in the Housing Department. He was educated at St. Edward's School and Bishop Hall Secondary School, specializing in woodworking during his studies. After graduation, he worked in a factory for two years renovating Japanese screw machines, then worked in screen printing and fur industries. He began his entertainment career at age 16 in 1983 when he was approached by a filming crew while swimming in Shek O, leading to appearances in magazines like "Youth" and commercials. In the mid-1990s, he joined Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) as an actor, and after a year without work, he enrolled in the 7th Artist Training Course in 1994. He began his television career playing law enforcement roles, then caught the attention of producer Lau Si Yeung in "Island Police Force," leading to more prominent roles. He became known for portraying spoiled sons from wealthy families and nobility, and did not mind playing villainous roles as they offered creative freedom in performance. His artistic goal is to reach the level of Tao Dayu. He left TVB in 2012 after over 10 years and joined Hong Kong Television Network, with "King Maker" being his final work at TVB. One of his notable works is "Forensic Heroes" where he played the role of a small policeman alongside actor Jiang Ke as twin brothers. When Hong Kong Television Network failed to obtain a license in 2013, he considered changing careers but refused to return to TVB, hoping instead for the network's revival.
