简介

Chan Wing Chun is a Hong Kong television actor, originally named Chan Wing Kei. He was born on 22 August 1955 and graduated from the Hong Kong Chinese Women's Association Yau Cho Wing School in 1968. He had little interest in studying as a child, apprenticed at his uncle's air-conditioning repair company, and later attended evening secondary school. In 1977–1978 he worked as a martial arts stuntman at Commercial Television. In 1983, while working as a taxi driver, he met the renowned lyricist James Wong, who recommended him for an audition. He joined TVB's artist training programme in 1984, exempted from the minimum education requirement. He initially acted while still working in hotels before becoming a full-time actor. In his early career he was known for playing elegant gentlemen such as Hu Tiehua and Han Qianqiu, but declined leading roles after suffering a rib fracture during filming. In the 1990s he transitioned to villainous roles and eunuch characters in historical dramas, earning the title "King of Eunuchs" on a 2016 TVB variety show. In 2017, he gained attention for his role as a school principal in "Come Home Love: Lo and Behold". In 2020, he was offered a move to Beijing for career development but chose to stay in Hong Kong to care for his wife who suffered from dermatomyositis. He married in 1981 and had three children; after his first wife passed away in 2010, he remarried actress Ng Heung-lun in 2018.
