陳保元

简介

Chan Pao-yuen, known by his English name Ricky Chan, was born on 25 August 1968. His original name is Chan Pao-yuen. In 1986 he enrolled in the second intake of the TVB artist training course, alongside several notable classmates. After graduating he worked as a part-time model, then in the late 1980s became a full-time dancer, performing as a backup dancer for top singers and appearing in major concerts such as Sammi Cheng's 1997 X Space concert. He joined Asia Television in 1997 and appeared in many dramas, but his career remained modest until he played the villain Qi Zhendong in "The Brink of Law II", which brought him wider recognition. He completed his secondary education at Sultan Idris Shah II National Secondary School in Malaysia. In September 2012 he announced on his Weibo account that he had signed with Beijing Yicai Bosheng International Culture Company and adopted the stage name Chan Pao-yuen. He currently works at a used car dealership in Singapore while continuing to act in web series and films. In June 2006 he married his girlfriend of five years, who is outside the entertainment industry.
