Otto Chan Chun On was born on 27 October 1981 and grew up in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island, Aberdeen, where his parents ran a wonton noodle stall on the street. He lived in an old tenement building in his childhood and was later allocated to Lei Tung Estate during primary school. He learned martial arts since kindergarten and graduated from St. Peter's Catholic Primary School and St. Peter's Secondary School. He worked as a model before entering the Mr. Hong Kong pageant. In 2006, he won the Mr. Hong Kong 2006 Fitness Group title and subsequently signed with TVB as an artist. He initially took minor roles, but his acting improved gradually and his roles grew. He became known in 2009 for portraying a mentally disabled character in "A Great Way to Care", and in 2012 his role in "Gloves Off" made him a hot topic online and earned him company promotion, as well as a nomination for Most Promising Male Artiste in Malaysia. In 2018, he drew attention again with his performance in "OMG, Your Honour". He married a non-celebrity in 2009 and had a daughter, then divorced in 2011. He married the veteran actor Law Lok-lam's daughter in 2012 and divorced in 2022. He ended his contract with TVB in October 2026.
