简介
Fung Kwok Tung is a Hong Kong a cappella singer, arranger, and educator, best known as the founder of the Hong Kong and Macau Contemporary A Cappella Association and a member of the a cappella group "姬聲雅士". Born in 1973 in Hong Kong, he attended St. Paul's College for secondary school and was directly admitted to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he excelled academically and received over ten scholarships. He graduated in 1995 with first-class honours and received a full scholarship to study oboe performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. However, he did not pursue a career primarily as an oboist after returning to Hong Kong, instead working in other areas of music, including serving as a program host with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2008 and 2009. He began participating in a cappella during university initially as a hobby, but later became active in performances, teaching, and judging, earning the nickname "Father of Hong Kong A Cappella". Although he gradually reduced his regular participation from 2007 onward, he remains highly influential in the a cappella community across Asia and is regarded as a key figure in the field. He serves as the Hong Kong ambassador for the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America, was a judge at the 2014 World Championship of Modern A Cappella, and has been music director of the Macau Asian A Cappella Festival since 2016. He published a songbook titled 《樂從口出III》 in 2017 and began writing a column for Vocal Asia's website in 2019. He also authored non-music books including 《疫下胡扯》 in 2020 and 《業餘人業餘寫》 in 2023.
