Jerald Chan
Biography
Jerald Chan is a Hong Kong singer-songwriter and musician, and a member of the duo Swing. Born in Hong Kong in 1973, he is the son of renowned musician Chan Wing Leung. He learned music from his father from a young age and excelled in scat singing. He emigrated to Canada with his family at an early age and grew up there. He returned to Hong Kong in the 1990s to develop his career, and in the early 2000s met Eric Kwok, with whom they formed the duo Snowman, later renamed Swing. The duo sought to change Hong Kong's music scene but did not achieve the expected results, and disbanded Swing in 2002. After leaving the spotlight, Jerald returned to Canada but continued writing songs for artists such as Eason Chan, Julian, and Wu Ri Yan, and also collaborated with his father as concert producer for Liu Mei Jun. He returned to Hong Kong in 2009 and reunited with Eric Kwok to revive Swing for three years, releasing three albums: 武當, 電, and Swing到盡. They held the farewell concert Swing後會無期告別演唱會 on 23 November 2011 at the Hong Kong Coliseum, after which Jerald returned to Canada to care for his daughter.
