简介

Louis Yuen Siu Cheung is a Hong Kong actor, host, and singer born on 23 May 1967. He was educated at the High Kindergarten to Form 5 level, and then completed his senior secondary education at New Method College. He began his artistic career at a young age, participating in singing competitions in primary school where he won the championship in the sixth grade when his classmates refused to compete against him, and also won the Hong Kong-wide music festival championship with his school choir in the fourth grade. He also worked as a substitute singer for his sister in lounge performances at the age of fifteen. He obtained his Hong Kong Certificate of Examination in 1984. He participated in a singing talent contest in the program "Entertainment Tonight" in 1983 but lost, and then took part in the third TVB singing talent contest in 1984 without winning either. In 1985, he won third place in the Hong Kong-wide amateur singing competition and received a performing arts contract with Radio Television Hong Kong. He worked as a clerk at HSBC for one month, then began acting in RTHK television dramas, but transitioned to radio hosting due to insufficient television work, and released an album titled "序曲、另一半" as a DJ singer. He later joined TVB as a host and became the only person to have hosted all major music programs of the 1990s, including "Sunday新地帶", "週末任你點", "勁歌金曲", and "翡翠音樂幹線". He also excelled in the "Entertainment Tonight" program with a comedic persona. He temporarily left TVB in 1996 to resume his singing career, but his album plans failed due to personnel changes at the record company. He returned to acting in the drama "樂壇插班生" at the request of producer Mui Siu Ching. He achieved a turning point in his career when producer Lau Ka Ho asked him to replace the ill actor Lai Yiu Cheung in the drama "溏心风暴" where he portrayed the role "凌波" (Uncle Bo), and won the "Best Supporting Actor" award at the 2007 awards ceremony. He also excelled in the variety show world, winning the "Best Program Host" award in 2009 for "鐵甲無敵獎門人", then co-hosted "荃加福祿壽" which created a major sensation in impersonation, winning the Best Program Host award again in 2010, and hosted "變身男女Chok Chok Chok" in 2011 which sparked the "Chok" trend.
