简介

Danny Summer Ha Shiu Sing, known as the "Father of Hong Kong Rock," is a Hong Kong singer and actor born on December 8, 1952, originally named Ng Chi Kwun. He grew up in the squatter areas of Diamond Hill and near Gillies Avenue in Hung Hom, with a carpenter father and three older sisters. He graduated from Kowloon Dockyard Memorial School in 1965 and dropped out in Secondary 2 to enter the workforce, working as a dishwasher at a dairy company, doing odd jobs, working on construction sites, and handling fabric at a garment factory. He learned guitar during his school days, and while at the garment factory, a colleague introduced him to a dance hall where he studied guitar and music, though he mostly spent his time buying takeout, taking out trash, and cleaning ashtrays for the band. In 1974, he performed as a drummer at Merlin Hotel and was noticed by a TVB producer who invited him to appear on "Enjoy Yourself Tonight," marking his formal entry into show business. He released his debut album "Childhood Days" in 1979 and won the Best New Artist award from Wah Kiu Yat Po. He also won the first Asia-Pacific Songwriting Contest in 1985 with the song "Empty Chair." In 1998, he released the album "Imprints" which was well-received by audiophiles, and continued releasing albums under that title until 2015. Beyond singing, he acted in television dramas and films, with his most acclaimed role being in "Burning Flame" in 1998. He held his first solo concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum in 2000, and released the album "POWER" in 2009, which was named one of the top ten Chinese rock albums.
