简介

Raymond Choi Chai Man was born in Shanghai in 1970, a Hong Kong singer and actor nicknamed "Choi Zi." He received his early education at Chong Zheng Secondary School and began his artistic career in 1987 when he participated in a student singing contest organized by Wah Kiu Daily and won an award with the song "Every Road" by Lu Fang. In 1988, he participated in the "Future Idol Contest" organized by ATV, and although he did not win, his explosive and emotional singing style caught the attention of music industry professionals. He joined TVB in 1989 to act in dramas, then signed with BMG Records in 1990 to officially debut as a singer with the album "Beautiful Lies," releasing three solo albums and a compilation. In 1993, he moved to Fitto Records and released three more albums in Cantonese and Mandarin, with well-known songs including "Window Watching Season," "Say Yes," and "Slowly Walking with You" (duet with Leung Sin Ling). He released his final album "Come and Go Alone" in May 1994, then withdrew from the music scene to become an actor at ATV. After his ATV contract ended in 1998, he moved to mainland China for drama productions. With the opening of a factory and store for the family lighting business in Shanghai in 1999, he formally retired from the entertainment industry. He married former TVB actress Chan Pui Shan in 2022 and rarely appeared in public afterwards. In 2018, amid the wave of returning singers on the show "50 Years of Popular Classics," reports emerged of his attendance at a classic alumni reunion. In 2022, he collaborated with fellow singer Wong Po Yan on a cover of Hacken Lee's classic "Concert Hall," included in her hi-fi cover album "Reflash." He won the Most Promising Newcomer Bronze Award at the 13th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award ceremony in 1990, and the Best New Male Artist Bronze Award at the Ultimate Song Chart Awards in 1990.
