張武孝

简介

Albert Cheung Mo-hau, known as "大AL", is a Hong Kong singer and actor who rose to fame in the 1970s with Cantonese songs. Raised by a single mother working in a textile factory after his father abandoned the family, he attended several schools including 福德學校, 東頭村崇真學校, 迦密中學, 廣州市培正中學 and 萃華英文書院. In the early stage of his career, he worked as a meal delivery worker at a dairy company while performing as lead vocalist in an amateur band alongside colleagues such as 林子祥 and 楊雲驃 ("細AL"). After winning a singing competition hosted by 《星報》 and 《星島日報》, he became a full-time singer, performing in bars and nightclubs in Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui and Central. The general manager of the Hilton Hotel named his band "Jade" (玉石樂隊), inspired by a programme called 《玉石之音》. He later joined TVB to act in television dramas, but lost his voice in the 1980s and left the music scene, moving into entertainment venue management where he eventually became general manager, before being transferred to Thailand and Tianjin to run nightclub businesses. He returned to the Hong Kong spotlight in the 2000s, balancing singing and acting. He won Gold and Platinum Disc awards in the late 1970s and received the Best Song and Best Duet Performance awards in 2014. His nickname "大AL" arose because he was the older of two band members named Albert.
