简介

Joel Chan Shan Chung was born in Hong Kong as the youngest child in a family with two brothers and four sisters, most of whom emigrated to Canada. His father was a transport and logistics businessman and also the president of a sports club branch founded by his lion dance master in Macau. Chan learned lion dance from the age of three and often accompanied his father to festive occasions, which nurtured his interest in the art. He received his education at Baptist Oi Kwan Primary School and New Life Educational Association Secondary School. In the early 1990s, he caught the attention of famous artist Andy Lau after winning a singing competition imitating the Four Heavenly Kings in 1992, where he sang "Long Night So Romantic." He signed with Andy Lau's music company New Melody at age sixteen and released two albums, "Exposure" and "愛是全意," in 1994 and 1996. Later, he transitioned to television acting and won the "Best Supporting Actor" award at the 2017 TVB Anniversary Awards for his role in "同盟," followed by the "Best Actor" award at the 2022 ceremony for "金宵大廈2."
