Jason Chan Pak Yu was born in Hong Kong in 1983 under his original name Ivan Chan Kwong Wai. His parents divorced when he was three, and he spent four years in an orphanage before moving with his family to Canada at age seven. He studied in Markville, Canada, and obtained a Social Service Worker Diploma from Seneca College before returning to Hong Kong in 2005 to work at Apple. In 2006, he signed with Sony Records and released his debut single "Stubborn". He released his first album "First Experience" in 2007, produced by major producers, achieving great success and winning the "Most Explosive Newcomer" award. He became known for his gentle love songs and was nicknamed "The Healing Love Song Prince". He achieved commercial success with "You Hide Me, I Hide You" in 2009, but his career was affected by the HKRIA copyright dispute. He made a strong comeback in 2016 with "Without You, I Am Nothing" and won the "Best Male Singer" award. He married former actress Fu Xiaowei in 2017 and had a daughter the following year. In 2020, he served as an ambassador for WWF.
