Biography

Gigi Yim Ming Hay was born in Hong Kong on 9 April 2005, to a father from Shanwei and a mother from Shijiazhuang. She grew up in Yau Tong in Kowloon during her childhood, spending her early years in Yau Tong Village. She moved with her aunt and uncle to live in Hong Kong from kindergarten through junior secondary school. She studied at St. Antonius Girls' College in Yau Tong, where she developed an interest in art, design, and painting, choosing to study Technology and Living (Clothing, Textiles and Fashion) and Visual Arts. She was influenced by the Chinese singing talent show "The Voice of China" and began practicing singing independently online. She won the first season of TVB's "Stars Academy" talent show, earning the title "Legendary New Star" along with two other awards. She released her first solo single "The Nobility of Truth" in September 2021 and debuted as a solo artist. She received newcomer awards from four major Hong Kong radio stations and won the "Hong Kong Gold Song Award" at the Hong Kong Gold Songs Award Presentation Ceremony 2021/2022. In 2023, she was early-admitted to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University through the School Nomination Direct Admission Scheme to study fashion design, fulfilling her dream of becoming a fashion designer.
