Biography

Liu Fengping is a Hong Kong singer, one of the most popular Mandarin and Cantonese pop singers of the 1960s and 1970s, known as the "Queen of the Pretty Girl Singer". Her father was a Cantonese opera musician, so she grew up in an artistic environment and learned Cantonese opera from a young age, entering the field at age thirteen. She began her singing career as a resident singer at nightclubs after winning a singing competition in 1965. She joined TVB in 1968 and was one of the first singers on the famous "Enjoy Yourself Tonight" show. She released her first album in 1968, and her second album in 1969 sold sixty thousand copies. She won the top singer award from "Wan Kiu Wan Po" eight times between 1970 and 1979. She left TVB in 1974 and joined its rival, then returned in 1976. She moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1988 after marriage, and has worked as a singing teacher since 2001, teaching stars like Linda Chung.
