Biography
Lau Siu Wai, known as "Siu Wai", is a Hong Kong singer and actress active in the 1990s, considered one of the "Polydor Three Little Flowers" alongside Lai Rui En and Tang Bao Ru. She grew up in a family with three sisters and one brother; her father was a professional driver and her mother a school bus driver, and the family moved between various areas of Hong Kong. She studied at Maryknoll Convent School Primary Section but had poor academic results, later transferring to Cheng Chi Secondary School. She began her career in 1988 after appearing in a TV advertisement for "Mother's Milk" at her brother's invitation, followed by a role in the film "Seven Little Fortunes". She officially entered the entertainment industry after graduating from high school, joining TVB in 1989 and then Polydor Records in 1991 to launch her singing career with her debut album "In Your Dreams", which achieved good success thanks to its lead single "First Love". Despite her strong record sales, she did not receive sufficient support from the company, which was focusing its resources on singer Vivian Chow. In 1994, she moved to BMG Records and released the album "依戀", achieving notable breakthrough success, then entered the Taiwan market as a new artist. In 1996, she faced administrative changes at BMG that led to the termination of her contract without prior notice, prompting her to retire from entertainment and focus on her family. In the mid-2010s, she launched an online program to share her views on spirituality and traditional Chinese medicine.
