Kiri T is a Hong Kong singer-songwriter, whose real name is Xie Xiaoying. She was born on December 27, 1994 in Hong Kong. She studied classical music during secondary school in the UK and began writing songs, with her first musical work being composing the song "兩面" for Joey Yung in 2009 at age fourteen. She graduated from Marymount Secondary School and later attended Berklee College of Music in the United States. She released her debut single "Twenty-Something" in 2015 on Soundcloud, which achieved significant success. She began her music career in New York and released successful songs such as Rearview Mirror, I'm Not Here, and Strangers between 2017 and 2019, while also arranging music for several prominent singers. She returned to Hong Kong in 2019 and released her first album "Golden Kiri", followed by her second album "CHILI T" in 2021. In July 2022, she officially joined Warner Music Hong Kong and began releasing Cantonese songs, including "扭擰雪糕屋" and "歧義種子" which reached number one on the 903 Professional Recommendation chart. In March 2023, she was selected as the Hong Kong representative for Spotify's "EQUAL Global Music Program", with her portrait displayed on the Times Square screen in New York. She was also selected by Tatler magazine as one of the 7 Hong Kong female singers to watch out for in 2024. Kiri is known for writing pop and electronic R&B songs, and she also runs an independent music distribution brand called Kurious Grocery.
