简介

Lau Wai Wong is a Hong Kong singer born on 21 August 1979. He grew up in various areas of Hong Kong including Hung Hom, Kwai Fong, and Shek Lei. His parents divorced when he was 13, after which he lived with his mother and sister while his younger brother was raised by their father. He graduated from SKH Lam Bing Secondary School. He won first place in a school singing competition in his third year of junior high school. He traveled to Northern Ireland to complete his GCSE but returned to Hong Kong to work as a waiter at Neway Karaoke. He later worked as a salesperson at Chung Tai Printing Company for ten years. In 2009 he joined the first season of "The Voice" and reached the top five, signing with TVB. He was known as "Captain Wai Wong" as he was chosen as team leader on the show. In 2010 he formed the group "Super 4" with Lam Si Kit, Alfred Hung, and Chan Hung Shek. He represented Hong Kong on CCTV's "Straight to Spring Festival Gala" in 2012 and reached the top eight nationally. His acting opportunities declined as he felt the company focused resources on Alfred Hung, so he terminated his TVB contract in 2014. After leaving, he joined "Release Music" and "Chessman Entertainment" in Macau but left both due to lack of opportunities. In 2016 he opened a bubble tea shop at Kwai Chung Plaza and became the Hong Kong distributor for "Jenjudan" in 2018. He resumed singing through online livestreaming starting in 2015 and relaunched his channel in 2020. He founded Jumbo Production in 2021 and held multiple concerts including "Rebirth," "Recover," and "Relaxing." He joined "Midlife Singing 2" in 2023 and reached the top eight.
