简介

Qian Yanqiu is a Chinese director, screenwriter and actor, born on 30 September 1968 in Beijing, and graduated from the Acting Department of the Beijing Film Academy in 1987. He is known for a creative style that blends suspense, reasoning and martial arts. As a child he was an avid reader, especially of chronological history books, from which he drew inspiration to craft small stories, which is why his scripts are characterized by extensive use of classical Chinese and rare words. He achieved major success in 2003 when he co-directed the TV series "Detective Di Renjie" with Liang Guanhua and Zhang Zijian, and the trio formed what became known as the "Iron Triangle," continuing to produce sequels and other works. In 2010, Qian directed the fourth installment under the title "The Great Di Renjie: Detective," but a dispute with the producers led to a name change to avoid copyright conflict. A legal battle erupted over the ownership of the script's copyright with the production company, and the courts ultimately ruled that the company is the sole copyright owner of the "Detective Di Renjie" script. Qian also authored novels adapted from his television works, published by the China Social Sciences Press.
