简介
Ji Chunhua was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in 1961 and graduated from Shanghai Television University. In his youth he was a member of the Zhejiang martial arts team, but fell ill, causing all his hair and eyebrows to fall out permanently. In 1980, director Zhang Xinyan discovered him while casting martial arts actors for the film *The Shaolin Temple*, and Ji Chunhua shot to fame playing the villain "Bald Eagle." In 1986, director Zhang Yimou spotted him by chance and cast him in *Red Sorghum*, though Ji initially declined the role believing he was unsuitable before eventually agreeing. In 2014 he starred in *The Golden Bowl*, his first film playing a good character. In 1998 he received the "Outstanding Contribution Award to Chinese Martial Arts," and in 2016 he was honored with the "Contribution to Chinese Action Cinema" award at the Asia International Youth Film Festival. He passed away on 11 July 2018 in Hangzhou, with his death reportedly linked to late-stage lung cancer. A memorial ceremony was held on 13 July 2018, and he was posthumously honored at the 2019 Hong Kong Film Awards alongside other deceased film figures.
