简介

Sun Nan is a Chinese pop singer born on February 18, 1969, in Dalian, Liaoning. His father was an opera singer, but Sun Nan disliked his father's voice and worked in factories after middle school, then returned to singing influenced by Hong Kong and Taiwan pop music, particularly Alan Tam. In the early 1990s, he achieved minor success in the music scene but was not widely known. In 1999, he became famous in China after singing the theme song for Feng Xiaogang's film "Be There or Be Square" and the TV drama "Never Close Your Eyes" with the song "Come Back Quickly." "Be There or Be Square" featured a full orchestra recorded live with a vocal range spanning two octaves, making it highly challenging. He also sang popular songs like "Save" and "Wind Blows North." In 1987, he joined the Beijing Coal Mine Art Troupe, moved to Dalian Song and Dance Troupe in 1990, and joined the Central Dance Troupe in 1991. He released his first album "Crescent Moon" in 1990. In 1992, he visited Hong Kong as one of China's top ten singers and held six concerts in Indonesia as the first Chinese pop singer to hold personal concerts abroad. In 1993, he joined a Hong Kong music company as the first mainland singer to sign with a Hong Kong label. He released "We Are All Sad People" in October 1993 with contributions from top Hong Kong and Taiwan musicians. In 1995, six songs from his second album were covered in Cantonese by stars like Andy Lau and Tony Leung. In 1996, he released "Red Flag Fluttering," which created a huge sensation and became the first music video featured on CCTV. In 1997, he participated in CCTV's New Year celebration and released "Knowing Sun Nan" in Malaysia.
