Biography

Li Wei, originally named Li Zhiyuan, was a prominent Chinese film actor and director. He was born on October 25, 1919 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, and passed away on August 21, 2005. He is regarded as one of the pioneering actors in Chinese cinema. He was known along with Li Zhiyu and Li Nong as the "Three Brothers of the Shanghai Film Scene." He received great recognition in his artistic career, being selected by the Chinese Film Performance Art Society in 2005 as one of the outstanding actors in a hundred years of Chinese cinema. He is considered one of the most notable figures who contributed to the development of the Chinese film industry through decades of artistic dedication.
