Yu Xiaoguang

Biography

Yu Xiaoguang was born on May 16, 1981 in Dandong, Liaoning. He was formerly a national first-class athlete, having practiced swimming for ten years and kayaking for five years, winning multiple national championships. In 2002, he participated in the "Starry Star" competition organized by Shenzhen Media Group and won the championship. He officially entered the entertainment industry in 2004 through his first drama "My Kung Fu Girlfriend." He later traveled to Singapore to study music composition under teacher Li Wei Song. In 2007, he composed the song "What We Agreed Upon" for singer Zhang Liangying and was nominated for Best Composer at the Beijing Pop Music Awards. He met Korean actress Choo Ja Hyun during the filming of "Iron Blood Hero Road" and married her in 2017. They appeared together on the program "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2, You Are My Destiny" and won the Popularity Star Award at the SBS Entertainment Awards. They had a son nicknamed "Sea" and held their official wedding ceremony in May 2019 in Seoul.
