Biography

Yang Wing, known professionally as Angelababy (Angela Yeung Wing), was born on February 28, 1989, in Shanghai, China. She comes from a mixed heritage; her grandfather is German, her father is of German-Chinese descent, and her mother is Chinese from Shanghai. She spent her childhood in Shanghai and attended Changle Primary School, where she also studied acting and dancing at a local arts school. She moved to Hong Kong at age 13 and completed her secondary education there. She began her career as a fashion model at age 14 when her classmates sent her photos to the popular Hong Kong magazine 《Yes!》, which led to being signed by a talent manager. In 2005, she worked as a dancer for Jay Chou's 2007-08 World Tour in Hong Kong. In 2006, she joined the Japanese agency Avex as a fashion model in the Japan region. She was a regular cast member of the reality show 《奔跑吧兄弟》 (Running Man) from 2014 to 2023. In 2012, she signed a cooperation deal with Huayi Brothers and established her personal studio in Beijing. In 2015, she founded the talent management company Taiyang Chuanhe. In 2016, she was selected by TC Candler as the 81st most beautiful face in the world. She appeared on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list multiple times, ranking 54th in 2012, 14th in 2019, and 16th in 2020. In 2018, she was appointed as a VisitBritain tourism ambassador and an English language promotion ambassador at the British Embassy in Beijing. She is also an investor in Baby Cafe restaurants and nail salons, and founded the venture capital fund AB Capital in 2015.
