简介
Pheobe Chow Yan Yan is a Hong Kong voice actress and dubbing director. She graduated in 1993 from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in acting, alongside fellow voice actors Chan Ting Hin and Lai Ka Hei. She began her career as an actress at ATV, but when progress was not made, she applied to TVB and was rejected due to her weight. In the 1990s, she followed her friend Chan Ting Hin to recording studios to learn, and became a protégée of veteran voice actress Lam Dan Fung from TVB's Cantonese dubbing team, working as a freelance voice actress. She became one of the youngest dubbing directors in the industry when the cartoon channel of Now TV needed dubbing directors. Her bold and fearless working style became key to her success, earning the appreciation of renowned comedian Stephen Chow, who invited her to serve as the Cantonese dubbing director for "The Mermaid" and "The New King of Comedy." Despite TVB repeatedly inviting her to join due to her achievements, she has declined each time. She is now a freelance dubbing leader and instructor, and the regular voice actress for Korean actress Kim Sun-a and Chinese actress Zhou Xun. She founded "En En Club" to promote the dubbing industry, and later co-founded "One Cool Voice Studio" with One Cool Group after actor Louis Koo admired her handling of a salary dispute within the dubbing union. In 2009, she published Hong Kong's first book revealing the secrets of the dubbing world, titled "The Joy and Path of Voice Actors." She also made a guest appearance in the 2020 ViuTV drama "The Inmates" and served as its dubbing director. She is dedicated to training new talent in dubbing with a rigorous approach, and her students include several well-known actors and singers.
