简介
Jiao Yuan is a stage actress from Hong Kong, originally named Jiao Ji Chun, born in Beijing in 1976. She moved to Hong Kong at age four after living in Baoding, Hebei Province under her grandmother's care. Her father was a theatre artist and her mother a ballerina, which inspired her artistic inclinations from childhood. She was educated in Hong Kong and graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1998 after five years of study, alongside classmates such as Chen Qi, Yang Si Min and Luo Min Zhuang. She won the Outstanding Actress award on campus twice for "A Girl's Dream" and "The Vast Plains," and was nominated for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Drama Awards twice. She joined the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and later moved to Spring-Time Experimental Theatre. Between 1999 and 2004, she performed "M. Butterfly" in 158 shows across Macau, Singapore and mainland China, breaking the Hong Kong record for most performances of a stage production. In 2003, she founded her own "Jiao Yuan Experimental Theatre Troupe" for greater artistic independence. She received the Artistic Achievement Award from the Baoding Dramatists Association in 2004 and the Hong Kong Theatre Professional Spirit Award the same year.
