Mary Jean Reimer is a Hong Kong businesswoman, presenter, lawyer, and freelance writer. She was born on May 22, 1964 in Saigon, Republic of Vietnam, with ancestral roots in Chaozhou, China; one of her fathers or stepfathers was Ong Yip Chor, son of Ong Din Nam, then the richest man in Vietnam. She settled with her family in Hong Kong from the age of one and began her acting career at age twelve when she sent a photo to a television magazine and was cast by director Lau Fong-gong in a radio drama. She starred in films such as "喝彩" and "楊過與小龍女" and TV series like "突破", gaining fame alongside Danny Chan. She met martial arts film director Lau Kar-leung at age fourteen despite a thirty-year age gap, and married him in 1984 after his divorce from his first wife. After marriage, she withdrew from entertainment to avoid rumors, then moved into knitting, later insurance, and founded an insurance consultancy. In 1996 she returned to study law at the University of Hong Kong, excelling with top grades, and later practiced law. She has also published several books, and her business focus is now in Guangzhou.
