Biography

See Lay is a famous Singaporean actress, born in 1936, whose native language is the Amoy (Xiamen) dialect. She was active in the film industries of Singapore and Hong Kong during the 1950s and 1970s. On July 4, 1959, she arrived in Hong Kong on a Cathay Pacific flight and stayed for three months to participate in filming two Amoy-language films with "金都公司" and "榮華公司". Her notable film works include the modern drama "姑嫂情深" (1959), which premiered in Singapore on December 10, 1959, and the historical musical comedy "阿繡賣胭脂" (1959), adapted from a story in "聊齋誌異", which premiered in Singapore on December 19, 1959.
