汪萍
简介
Wong Ping, known as Wang Ping, is a Chinese film actress from Taiwan, born on 1 October 1949 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and raised in Taipei. Her family originally hailed from Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province in China, as her parents moved to Taiwan early on. In 1968, while still a student, she took part in an actor recruitment test at a Taiwanese film production studio and was accepted, but she did not get the chance to appear in any film there. In April 1969, after failing to find success in Taiwan, she left for Hong Kong. In 1969 she joined the Shaw Brothers film company, and her debut was the film "Inheritance of 500 Million Yen" by director Umeji Inoue, while her breakthrough came with "The Little Star" directed by Chang Cheh, starring alongside the two major stars Ti Lung and David Chiang, which established her firmly among the Shaw actresses. She appeared in films such as "Vengeance" and "Dragon Tiger Fight" as a demure young girl, then later transitioned to martial arts roles in films like "The Duel," "Golden Seal Grudge," and "Fire Battle." In 1973, after her contract with Shaw expired, she returned to Taiwan and continued acting in films. In 1982, persuaded by director Li Han-hsiang, she returned to Hong Kong to film "Wu Song" for Shaw, playing Pan Jinlian, and her performance received high praise from critics and audiences, earning her the Best Leading Actress award at the 19th Golden Horse Awards. "Wu Song" was her final film before retirement, and she married shortly thereafter. In 2003, she returned to Taiwan to attend the 40th Golden Horse Awards, where she co-presented the awards for "Best Visual Effects" and "Best Adapted Screenplay" with Gu Feng.
