She is the aunt of Miss Hong Kong 2018 third-place winner Ding Zitian. In late 1984, she returned to Hong Kong from the US with her husband's family and joined TVB after filming several advertisements. In her early career, she often played comedic and mistress roles. In 2003, she moved alone to Los Angeles and became the lead actress in the local TV drama "Kung Fu Mama". She clarified the move was only to try a new environment, and eventually returned to TVB in January 2014 with "Tomorrow Is Another Day" as her comeback work. In April 2018, she ended her contract with TVB and retired, returning to the US to film local advertisements and promotional photos, concluding her 34-year relationship with TVB.
