梁舜燕
简介
Lily Leung Shun Yin, known as "Lily Jie", originally named Liang Shuzhen, was from Hong Kong with ancestral roots in Xinhui, Guangdong Province. Born in 1932 into a middle-class family, her father ran a hand-rolled tobacco shop. At age 14, she joined the drama group of the Spring and Autumn Friendship Amateur Society, playing the lead role in the play "The Shopkeeper's Wife", and also performed in "Thunderstorm", "Sunrise", and "Woman Woman". She attended Bo Ji School in the Western and Central District and participated in school opera performances during primary school. She earned a six-year free secondary school scholarship and enrolled at Berkeley Rose Girls' School, but after graduating in 1949, she could not continue her studies due to her father's business failure. She worked as a salesperson in the towel and perfume departments at the Xian Shi department store and participated in the store's fashion shows. In the early 1950s, she saw a television displayed in a piano shop window while walking, which sparked her interest in the television industry. In 1957, she took leave from the store and applied for a Chinese-language announcer position at Li Ying Sheng, joining in April 1957 as a television announcer responsible for puppet show dubbing and hosting the programs "Women's World" and "Li's Concert". She became a full-time senior announcer in 1960 while also acting in dramas. In 1963, she was assigned to news reporting at Li Ying Sheng's Chinese channel and won the "Most Popular Television Actress" award for four consecutive years from 1964 to 1967, being described as Hong Kong's first television star or "Hong Kong's First Television Lady" as she was the first actress to sign a contract with a television station. She also served as an acting instructor for the first and second sessions of the Li Ying Sheng Artist Training Academy between 1966 and 1968. In 1968, she resigned from Li TV after eleven years and moved to TVB at the invitation of Chung Jing Wai to perform in the drama "Dream Broken in the Heaven of Love". She returned to Li TV (later renamed Asia Television) in February 1976 at the invitation of Huang Xi Zhao and worked there until 1989. She was also a registered member of the British National Health Beauty Assessment Council and held a British National Registered Health Beauty Instructor qualification. Her adopted son is singer Li Hak Kan.
