简介

Alice Lau Nga-lai was born in 1955 in Hong Kong and is a Chinese actress from Hong Kong who was active during the 1970s and 1980s. She grew up on Cheung Chau island in her childhood and moved with her family to Hong Kong Island at the age of 10. She learned embroidery and cooking from a young age, studied at a vocational school, and later attended teachers' college where she also trained in tailoring for four years. Before entering higher education, she taught ribbon flower making and sewing to earn money for tuition. In 1976, she applied for the TVB artist training program and signed with the station as an actress in 1977. Her first television drama was "Tycoon" (大亨), followed by a role as Andy Lau's girlfriend in "So Chi Er" (蘇乞兒). She also participated in the popular entertainment show "Enjoy Yourself Tonight" (歡樂今宵). She is the first Hong Kong star to play a leading role in a Hollywood film, appearing in the war film "Uncommon Valor" in 1983 alongside actor Gene Hackman. A few years later, she married a young German businessman and moved to United States, leaving the entertainment industry to focus on family life, though she occasionally returns to Hong Kong to attend gatherings with her former colleagues from the entertainment world.
