简介

Hon Yuk Ha is a Hong Kong television presenter and sports broadcaster, born in November 1960. She studied at St. Patrick's School and C.C.C. Ming Kei College, where she participated in school drama activities. In 1979 she entered the Miss Hong Kong Pageant while still in secondary school, then continued her studies and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a degree in English in 1984. Her classmate Ananda Ho, who later became press secretary to Hong Kong's Chief Executive, studied alongside her. She joined TVB's presenter training course in 1984 just before her university exams, one of four trainees. She began writing for "Enjoy Yourself Tonight" before completing the course, and six months later sports director Lau Hon-yee noticed her natural presenting style and transferred her to the sports department to host "Sports World". She started as a reporter and covered her first major sporting event at the 1990 Beijing Asian Games. She became known as the "Sports Tam Yu-ying" for her long tenure hosting "Sports World", a reference to the famous children's programme host. She covered seven consecutive Olympic Games from Barcelona 1992 to Rio 2016, a rare achievement in Hong Kong sports broadcasting. She began acting in 2000 after years in sports media, opened a dessert shop in Sai Kung in 2001, and also worked as a real estate agent. She taught in the communication department at Chu Hai College for seven years from 2002 and earned a master's degree in mass communication from the University of Leicester in 2005. She retired from TVB in March 2020 after 36 years but returned in 2022 to appear in "A Guilty Conscience" directed by Wai Lun Ng, released in 2023 as a Chinese New Year film. She is divorced and currently in a relationship with someone outside the entertainment industry, spending her time exercising and accepting occasional acting roles.
