Her real name was Peng Xiaoping, and she was a Hong Kong film actress. Originally from Chengdu in Sichuan, she was born in Suzhou. At the age of twelve, her family moved to Hong Kong. She later left school and worked with her father in film studios. She formally joined Shaw Brothers film company in 1958 and adopted the stage name "Juan Du." She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2nd Golden Horse Awards in 1963 for the film "巫山春回." In 1964, she married Lai Keng-shing, who owned a Kowloon bus company, but they later divorced due to marital discord. She committed suicide on November 27, 1969, along with her friend, female designer Ho Yiu-chi, in her Kowloon residence, leaving behind her six-year-old son.
