简介

Zhang Min (Sharla Cheung) is a Chinese-Hong Kong actress born on 7 February 1968 in Shanghai during the Cultural Revolution, raised in the Chuansha area, now part of Pudong New District. She moved with her family to Hong Kong at age nine. In 1986, she enrolled in the fifth term of ATV's artist training program and graduated the same year. In 1987, director Wong Jing discovered her and she joined Win's Entertainment, quickly becoming one of Hong Kong's most in-demand actresses of the 1990s, appearing in nearly 70 film and television works. She collaborated with virtually all the major stars of the era, most notably Stephen Chow, making her widely recognized as the foremost "Sing Girl." In 1991, she received a Best Actress nomination at the 11th Hong Kong Film Awards for her film with Andy Lau, "Dance with the Dragon." She also delivered a classic performance in the 1993 wuxia film "Kung Fu Cult Master" alongside Jet Li. Zhang Min retired from the Hong Kong entertainment industry in 1995 after completing "Ten Brothers," moving into clothing, beauty, and sales businesses. She briefly returned in 1997 to film two television dramas, "Mother of the East" and "Xi Shi: Beauty of the Warring States," and made a short comeback in 2003 after signing with Jiu Zhou Ya Hua, filming two series and some advertisements before disappearing again. In 2013, rumors spread of her marriage to former manager Liu Yonghui and their settling in Beijing, but she denied in 2017 that she had ever been married, calling it all rumor. Zhang Min is considered the only major actress of the 1990s who remained entirely free of scandal, reportedly due to her relationship with entertainment tycoon and powerful figure Heung Wah Sing.
