简介

Olivia Cheng Man-ngar was born in 1960 in Hong Kong as the youngest of seven children. After losing her father at age three, her family faced financial hardship, and she spent time at a children's home in Tai Po. She lived in various parts of Hong Kong as the family moved seeking affordable housing, attending multiple schools before relocating to Hong Kong Island for work convenience. During her time at Fung Kai First Secondary School, she took up high jump on teachers' recommendation and set school records. She began learning dance at age seven and received training from teachers affiliated with the Beijing Dance Academy.

At age 15 in 1975, she began working as a fashion modeling at a Tsim Sha Tsui company through her elder sister's recommendation, where she met renowned photographer Chung Wai-gang, who treated her as his own daughter and taught her photography, art, and fashion design. In 1979, Chung nominated her for the Miss Hong Kong Pageant, and she won both the title and the Miss Photogenic award. After her reign, she competed in Miss Universe and then joined RTV following the end of her contract with TVB, a move that caused significant controversy and prompted networks to revise contestant contract terms. She appeared in several popular television series before transitioning to film in 1982 with Cinema City.

In cinema, she appeared in multiple successful films before retiring in 1991 after marrying Yiu Chit-fai. In 1986, she became the first Miss Hong Kong to pose semi-nude for the Chinese edition of Playboy magazine, setting a precedent for other titleholders. After marriage, she took up golf and became a skilled player before transitioning to a professional women's golf coach. She also served as a judge at the Miss Hong Kong Pageant in 2000 and 2008.
