黃金愛
简介
Wong Kam Oi, a Hong Kong Cantonese opera star and film actress, was born in 1938. She stepped onto the Cantonese opera stage at the age of seven, earning the title "Outer Flower Dan King" and serving as the leading female role in the "Six Dollar Troupe". She co-founded the "Golden Swallow Troupe" with Shi Yanzi to perform in Macau, and her other opera partners included Lu Haitian and Xiao Qiansui. Her screen debut was in the first Cantonese color romantic film "Golden Powder Rainbow Skirt" (1947), produced in the United States. She starred in the Cantonese musical comedy film "The Opera Fan's Adventure" (1962), playing the Cantonese opera star Bai Yanfang. Wong admired the singing of Hung Sin Nui; with her bright, stable, and powerful high-pitched voice, she was advised by Fung Wah, Hung Sin Nui's former private musician, to specialize in the "Hung Sin Nui style". Her father, Wong Kim Kung, hired teachers in her childhood to train her in Cantonese opera and various instruments including guzheng, qinqin, yangqin, pipa, sanxian, and guitar, with notable masters such as Wan Chi Chung, Fung Wah, Chau King Yi, and Chau Hin Pak. She could perform multiple instruments, excel in the "Hung Sin Nui style", and perform "bound-foot plays"; her performance with comedian Liao Xiahuai in "The Flower King's Daughter" brought her instant fame. In 1962, she was approved for naturalization as a British subject. In 1963, she went to San Francisco to study acoustics, collaborated with fellow opera artists in stage performances, and held solo Cantonese classical music recitals. She obtained American citizenship in 1966 after three years in the U.S., returned to Hong Kong briefly in early 1967 to stay with her parents, and flew back to the United States on June 12, 1967, at 5:30 PM.
