Pak Ming (Bai Ming)
Biography
Pak Ming, born in 1930 under her original name Li Pak Ming, traces her ancestral roots to Yangjiang in Guangdong Province, China. She launched her artistic career in Hong Kong as both an actress and a singer, rising to prominence as one of the notable screen stars of that era. Her cinematic debut came in the 1947 film "South Island Love Song," and she continued acting until her final film "Seven-Colored Red Men and Green Women" in 1969, appearing in approximately 25 Cantonese and Mandarin films. In 1966, she traveled to Singapore with the film crew of "The Woman Warrior in the Battlefield," but suffered a health crisis after overdosing on sleeping pills, which she later attributed to being cheated by Singaporean theater operators over her wages. She married Cai Junjie, with whom she had a son, and the couple owned numerous properties in the Wan Chai area of Hong Kong Island.
