Lin Yan

Biography

Lin Yan, also known as Pan Yan Zhu and Pan Wei Na, is a Hong Kong film actress and Cantonese opera performer. Her ancestral home is in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. She joined Shaw Brothers in 1959 as a film actress, making her screen debut in "Glass Slipper". She was known for playing "silly big sister" roles and appeared in approximately 40 films. She comes from a prominent artistic family: her father is Pan Long Tu (known as Long Tu), a famous film director and one of the "Ten Great Directors"; her grandfather is Pan Han Chi, a veteran artist whose disciples include famous performers Gui Ming Yang and Hu Die Ying. Her sister Pan Li Zhu (known as Bai Li Bai) is also a Cantonese opera actress. She married plastic businessman Mr. Jian Zhi Wen on August 31, 1966, in Hong Kong, with the wedding banquet held at Chong Hua Restaurant in Mong Kok.
