Wang Yunyi, formerly known as Wang Hui, was a Chinese jazz singer born on June 5, 1986 in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. She was known for her rich, magnetic voice and her distinctive bald look, and was hailed as the "Queen of Chinese Jazz." She rose to prominence in 2012 when she participated in the first season of "The Voice of China" on Zhejiang Television, where she performed "被遺忘的時光" during the blind audition and received turns from all four coaches. She eventually joined coach Yu Chengqing's team and became the runner-up of his team. That same year, she participated in the season finale and won the "魅力的光芒奖" alongside Li Daimo. In 2013, she released her single "人生若只如初見" and appeared in the comedy film "大片" alongside actors Yu Cheng, Wu Mengda, and Ju Hao, and participated in nearly a hundred variety shows. In 2014, she served as a guest singer on the program "中國正在聽." In 2015, her jazz album "被遺忘的時光" became a bestseller both domestically and internationally. After participating in the show "奇葩說" in 2016, she gradually faded from the public eye, settling quietly in Shanghai where she opened her own music studio dedicated to music creation. In 2017, she held several concerts and a national tour. In December 2023, she suffered a serious head injury after falling from a chair during a gathering with a music producer, requiring hospitalization and more than ten stitches in her ear. On June 28, 2024, actress Chen Sisi announced Wang Yunyi's death from illness on Weibo, and her former coach Yu Chengqing paid tribute to her.
