鄭孟霞
简介
Cheng Mang-ha was born in 1912 in Hong Kong into a wealthy family; her father managed a sewing machine business. Her Japanese mother died of lung disease when she was eleven, and she was then sent to a girls' school in Shanghai. She faced difficulties in school due to her unfamiliarity with the Shanghai dialect, and her interests gradually shifted to singing and dancing. She won the all-Shanghai dance competition in 1934 with her partner Chen Gaocong and subsequently performed around the world. She was a renowned Peking opera performer in Shanghai, specializing in qingyi roles. Around 1939, she moved to Hong Kong and began acting in films. She married the famous playwright Tang Di-sheng in 1942 during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. She worked at Rediffusion radio, hosting a program about her dramatic life. After her husband's sudden death in 1959, she joined TVB in the 1970s to play elderly roles, becoming widely known as "Granny Six" in the long-running series "Hong Kong 81" to "Hong Kong 86" (1981–1986). She had a significant influence on her husband Tang Di-sheng's works through her knowledge of Peking opera and dance. She passed away on 30 November 2000 at Pooi Shek Hospital at the age of ninety.
