梁葆貞

简介

Leung Po Ching (English: Leung Po Ching, 1937), stage names Bai Lian and Bai Li Xiang, is a veteran Hong Kong actress originally from Foshan, Guangdong. She began her acting career in film in the 1950s and performed extensively in mainland China during the 1950s to 1970s, returning to Hong Kong in 1979. In the 1980s, she became active with TVB, typically playing comedic roles as timid, penny-pinching, and naive middle-aged women. Her most iconic role is "Shun Sau" in the sitcom "Hong Kong 81" (1981-1986), a character so popular that "Shun Sau" became a byword for ignorant women. She also appeared in other sitcoms like "Meals for the Sung Family" (1994) and the long-running drama "A Kindred Spirit." She is the daughter of the late actor Leung Sing Bor, known as the "King of Clowns" and one of the "Four Heavenly Kings of Cantonese Opera in Southeast Asia." After her contract ended, she settled in Canada and returns to Hong Kong annually during the winter to meet with friends.
