简介
Priscilla Ku Kei Kwan, nicknamed "Boss Ku", is a Hong Kong former actress and television host of Shanghai descent. She was born on 1 September 1962 in Hong Kong and grew up on MacDonnell Road on Hong Kong Island before her family moved to the Tin Wan resettlement area at age 11 after her father's shoe factory business failed. She sang folk songs during her secondary school years and worked as a clerk and jewellery salesperson after graduating at age 17. In 1980, she joined RTV's "Keen Eyes Spot New Stars" training course and, due to outstanding performance, was signed as an artist alongside actors such as Frederick Mok and Kenneth Tong. She remained with RTV/ATV until 1998, mainly hosting programmes and occasionally appearing in dramas, with her first being "Sunshine After Rain Sequel". In 1983 she switched to hosting sports programmes. She emigrated to Canada in 1988, worked at a Chinese-language station there, but returned to Hong Kong due to low pay. She rejoined ATV in 1990, focusing on World Cup and sports-related shows. After moving to TVB in 1998, she became widely known as a host of major programmes alongside Eric Tsang. In 1989 she set a record of appearing in 580 programmes. She declined a TVB recruitment offer in 1988. After remarrying in 2003, she stepped away from show business and entered the jewellery industry, influenced by her aunt. She published an essay collection in 2001 and nine other books. She returned in 2020 to host "Boss Ku's Treat" on NEW TV and served on the HKFA Marketing and Communications Committee.
