Cathy Chui Chi Ki was born in Hong Kong in 1982 and raised in Australia, holding both Hong Kong and Australian nationality. She began her career at age 14 when fashion designer Yin Tai-wai discovered her and she worked as a model in his fashion shows, later joining the Elite model agency. She entered acting when director Chen Ka-shang invited her to audition for the film "誤人子弟," where she played a teacher—her first film role. She worked in acting while continuing her studies, earning a degree in Eastern European Studies and Economics from University College London and completing a master's in Gender and Media at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She appeared in the TV series "赤沙印記@四葉草.2" in 2004 before retiring from the entertainment industry. She married Li Ka-shing's second son, Li Ka-chung, and since 2006 has devoted herself to charitable and humanitarian work. She served as goodwill ambassador for the Zhixing Foundation, co-founded the Li Ka-chung & Cathy Chui Charitable Foundation, and became the first Asian patron of Save the Children Hong Kong. She received several humanitarian awards, including the Hong Kong Tatler Ball Humanitarian Award in 2012 and the ELLE HUMANITY Award in 2017. In July 2026, she was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in Hong Kong.
