潘安邦
简介
Pan An-bang was a Taiwanese singer and television host, born on September 10, 1954 in Magong Township, Penghu County, and graduated from Magong High School. He was the eldest son in his family with three younger brothers, and his father was a military officer in the National Army. He grew up in difficult economic circumstances and helped his family from a young age by selling soybean sprouts. In 1976, producer Gu Yingde discovered him during a visit to a television station due to his striking appearance, and after training he became a basic singer at CTV singing patriotic and pop songs, forming a singing duo with female singer Jiang Ling. In 1979, he sang songs on behalf of Ye Jiaxiu for television promotion and got the chance to release an album with Hai Shan Records. Ye Jiaxiu wrote the song "Grandma's Penghu Bay" for him based on a true story between him and his grandmother, which became his signature song. His first album also included songs by Zhou Xingli such as "Hope" and "Falling Notes." He shifted to the campus folk song style and achieved great success, earning him the nickname "traitor to pop songs." He was distinguished by a performance style different from other folk singers as he did not play guitar, and he sang folk songs in variety shows with revealing dance troupes. He released several albums with Hai Shan Records, including the album "Parting and Reuniting" which featured a Qiong Yao film song, and another album containing "Father's Straw Shoes" which was banned in Taiwan but became well-known in mainland China. Pan An-bang passed away on February 3, 2013.
