Gao Junyu

Biography

Gao Junyu was born on August 19, 2001, in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. She gained widespread recognition in 2009 after appearing in a commercial for the BBK DianDu device, becoming known as the "Reading Device Girl". She attended Dongfeng East Road Primary School in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, and was admitted to Zhixin Secondary School with a score of 727 on the entrance exam. In July 2019, she was admitted to the Communication University of China in the broadcasting and hosting major with a score of 568, exceeding the Guangdong undergraduate admission line by 113 points. In September 2022, she announced her acceptance into the university's postgraduate program. She participated in the second season of the program "Hello Life" in 2020 and served as a guide at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022. In 2015, rumors circulated about her exam results, but she was only in middle school at the time. In February 2024, she announced she had a brain tumor and underwent surgery, which sparked controversy after it was discovered that videos posted about her condition had been recorded in September 2023, leading to restrictions on her social media accounts and a halt in content publishing.
