简介

Margaret Hsing (邢慧) was a prominent Hong Kong actress, born on November 8, 1944, in Shanghai, China, under the name Hsing Yung-hui. She trained at Shaw's Southern Experimental Theatre Group in Hong Kong in 1961, then was sent to Toho Gakuen in Japan to study dance and acting, where she was regarded as the best dancer among her peers. At age 18 in 1962, she returned to Hong Kong and joined Shaw Brothers as an actress. She debuted in the 1964 musical "万花迎春" directed by Tao Chin, excelling in youth musical films before expanding her repertoire to include sci-fi, wuxia, horror, and mystery genres. Among her most notable films are the wuxia film "琴剑恩仇" (1967) and the horror film "鬼新娘" (1972). Hsing was known for her strong moral principles in the film industry, refusing to disrobe even in adult films and using body doubles for nude scenes. She appeared in over 25 films before retiring in 1973 and emigrating to Los Angeles, USA. Her marriage ended in divorce after three years, and she faced difficulties in her business life until she developed mental illness. In 1994, she killed her mother with an axe during an argument and was convicted of involuntary manslaughter by a Los Angeles court, serving an 11-year sentence. She was released in 2007 and died the same year from illness.
